Santa Fe Eating House, Fred Harvey hand-colored postcard
Presumably a former Santa Fe depot used by BNSF, looking west, 2008
An obscure location. This is the only postcard of the Fred Harvey facilities that I have ever found. The Guest Cottage is seen in the distace behind the Eating House.
I have never seen a map, or anything giving the location of the Eating House and Guest Cottage in relation to the depot. Did they co-exist with the 1909-1911 depot designed by Louis Curtiss? Where were these historic structures in relation to the more modern existing depot at an out-of-the-way location NE of town at the end of Santa Fe Depot Road? This road is off Hailey Street [Hwy 70] which runs through downtown. On the way to this isolated site, there is a Santa Fe Park and then a Santa Fe Lake.
